Roller Skate Victoria was formed by life-long skaters in Oct. 2018 in response to a growing resurgence in the sport of roller skating globally. They’ve brought back recreational roller skating to the Victoria area and beyond by providing roller skating and dancing lessons and offering public skating sessions for various municipalities. They are providing their community with a fun, social fitness option that appeals to all generations. At their events you can see grandparents who used to roller skate in the disco days bringing their grandkids for a fun night out together. They also give back to the community, having donated partial proceeds of their skating events to Special Olympics, Victoria Humane Society, Unist’ot’en Camp Legal Fund and KidSport; and by offering a free roller dance lesson as part of Dance Victoria’s Dance Days. This year they were named “Rookie of the Year” by Skate IA International and won first runner-up for Best New Business by the Westshore Chamber of Commerce.
