Getting Started

Q: How do I log into the SBBC Awards website?

All Top 10 semi-finalists will be emailed a username, password and a link to log into the SBBC Awards website to access their applications.

If you have misplaced this email or did not receive it, you can contact awards@smallbusinessbc.ca for assistance. Please ensure that you keep your login information confidential.

Q: How do I access my application(s)?

Once logged into the SBBC Awards website, you can access your application in the nominee dashboard:

Q: How do I save my responses and uploads?

As you complete your application(s), please be sure to periodically save your changes using the “Save Progress” button in the top right-hand corner of the application screen.

Q: How do I update my user profile?

Once logged into the SBBC Awards website, you can update your name, email address and password by visiting the profile menu. Be sure to click the “Update Profile” button to save your changes.

Q: Can I reset my password if I lose it?

Yes. To reset your password, please go to the SBBC Awards website login page and click on the “Lost your password?” link. You can use your username or the email address associated with your user profile to retrieve your password.

Q: I’ve lost my username and password for the SBBC Awards website, now what?

If you have lost your username and password for the SBBC Awards website (and you don’t know what email address you have associated with your user profile), please email awards@smallbusinessbc.ca for assistance.


Submitting Your Application

Q: How do I submit my application?

When you’re ready to submit your application for review, click the “Submit Final Application” button:

Prior to submitting your application, please ensure you have:

  • Double-checked your responses for accuracy and completeness;
  • Uploaded all required attachments (if requested); and
  • Agreed to the Application Disclaimer at the bottom of the application.

Q: I’ve submitted my extended award application, but I forgot to include something…can I change it?

All application submissions are final and cannot be changed after submission. Please check and double-check that all the information you want judges to review is included before submitting your application.

Q: How do I print a copy of my application responses for my records?

If you haven’t submitted your application yet, simply click the “Preview” button (next to the “Save Progress” button) while in the editing screen for your application, and then click the “Print Application” link to print a copy of your responses for your records.

If you have already submitted your application, you can access a preview link for your completed application from the nominee dashboard (when logged into the SBBC Awards website). Just as above, simply click the “Print Application” link to print a copy of your application.

Please note that after the application deadline passes, you will no longer be able to log into the SBBC Awards website to preview or print your responses.

Q: When is my extended award application due?

Top 10 semi-finalist extended award applications are due by 11:59pm on January 7, 2019.

Q: What happens if I forget to submit my application before the deadline?

If you don’t submit your finalized application by the above date and time, any responses you have filled out prior to the deadline will be automatically submitted to the judging panel for review.


Adjudication and Confidentiality

Q: Who will judge my application?

Your extended award application will be judged internally by Small Business BC staff members.

Q: Will my information be kept confidential?

SBBC agrees to keep all applications and related documents completely confidential. All applications, documents and business pitch presentations will be kept in a secure location during the judging process and destroyed at the end of the contest. The information included on your extended award application will only be viewed by our panel of Small Business BC Award judges.


What Happens Next?

Q: When will the Top 5 finalists be announced?

The Top 5 in each award category will be announced on January 21, 2019. We’ll contact you directly to let you know if you’re a Top 5 finalist.

Q: When will I have to pitch to the panel of judges?

Should you be selected as a Top 5 finalist, based on your extended award application, you will be asked to present a ten minute pitch to a judging panel. You will need to be available to pitch in person at the SBBC office in Vancouver or over Skype. These are the pitch dates:

Best Innovation: February 4-8, 2019
Best Concept: February 4-8, 2019
Best Marketer: February 4-8, 2019
Best Community Impact: February 4-8, 2019
Best International Trade: February 4-8, 2019
Best Company: February 4-8, 2019
Best Immigrant Entrepreneur: February 4-8, 2019
Best Apprentice Training: FFebruary 4-8, 2019

Q: When will the winners be announced?

The winners will be announced at the Small Business BC Awards Gala on February 21, 2019.
