The well-known residence in Studio City, California, often referred to as “The Brady Bunch house,” was initially listed for $5.5 million in May but recently sold for just under $3.2 million.
Tina Trahan, the new owner and an ardent admirer of the iconic home, has no intentions of living there, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Trahan and her spouse, ex-TV executive Chris Albrecht, are no strangers to acquiring noteworthy properties. They previously purchased parts of Stone Manor, a grand 125-year-old lakefront estate in Wisconsin.
Upon learning that the house from the popular 1970s TV show was up for sale, Trahan conveyed her immense interest in the single-story, mid-century modern home to her realtor.
Describing the house as akin to a “full-size dollhouse,” Trahan admitted to the WSJ that even with the reduced selling price, the purchase is “not a great investment.” The home features vintage mid-century furnishings, such as avocado green Tulip-style chairs and low-level sideboards.
Additionally, some of the house’s fireplaces and appliances are solely ornamental, a detail that suits its latest owner perfectly.
Trahan plans to use the property for philanthropic events and fundraisers rather than for daily living. She emphasized that making the house more habitable would detract from its artistic value.
Famous for appearing in exterior shots of “The Brady Bunch,” the home’s interior was actually a soundstage. However, when HGTV bought the property in 2018 for $3.5 million, they meticulously renovated it to resemble the Brady family’s on-screen home.
Through the 2019 limited series “A Very Brady Renovation,” the home was expanded from 2,500 square feet to 5,500 square feet, adding a second story and ending up with five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
According to NPR, HGTV invested an extra $1.9 million in the renovation by the series’ conclusion.
