The Happening Dance has been operating for 5 years, now in its 6th season. What began as a studio of 9 students in a live-work space has become a studio of 250+ students, housed in already-too-small double-studio space on Fraser Street!
Much of the studio’s growth can be attributed to word-of-mouth recommendations from existing families. The Happening’s unique approach places an emphasis on the value of each student as a person first, and a dancer second. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves – to prepare, arrive on time, and be fully present in each class. Each dancer will be pushed to be disciplined and focused, but instructors will never participate in body shaming or singling out students to “make an example” of them. The carefully chosen staff share founder Kimberly’s values in dance education, making the studio a space where students can work hard, fail safely, and grow into their utmost potential as people, and as dancers.
