MCC has made it their responsibility to hire, empower, motivate and elevate the people of the Lil’wat Nation (Mt. Currie First Nation Band). We sponsor every employee (26) with the ITA program. By working with Lil’wat, we have implemented the next levels of the carpentry program into gaps of construction and find subsidy opportunities to make the monetary hardship for eight weeks more endurable. As each employee completes their education, so does their position and their wage, creating more opportunities for the youth in the coming years to enter into the team as labourers and start a new cycle. In November of 2017, MCC was recognized as a “Champion of Apprentices” by the ITA for their dedication of empowering apprentices to work towards their Red Seal tickets. So far in 2018 alone, MCC helped 7 apprentices complete level 1, 8 finish level 2, and 1 become a Red Seal Carpenter. MCC has promoted two Red Seals into site supervisors, and currently helping them work towards Gold Seal ticket.
