Hummingbird Network is the first system to provide a hands-off solution for timely and reliable fire detection. By connecting the superior image recognition and processing of humans with a computer system providing remote access and data storage, Network fuses human intelligence and computer proficiency.
Network successfully ran trials in 2017 and officially launched in 2018, with cameras currently on the landscape detecting fires in BC, Alberta and Yukon, and a number of agencies, volunteers and paid workers engaging with the platform.
Verified internally by Network, confirmed smoke reports are directed to the appropriate responding wildfire agency, allowing for quick and efficient allocation of resources to the detected smoke. Providing information to decision makers and incident managers at the early stages of a wildfire help reduce the damage and cost of fighting it.
While focused on wildfire, this platform can also be used to monitor other emergencies such as flooding.
