Barking Dog Studio

Sooke, BC Best Community Impact:
Employees: 7 In Business Since: 2014

I started with an idea to help local artisans to showcase what they do best- I only carry items that I would have in my own home & use everyday. We are a funky little art studio, that is fun to visit & in the process of opening a second location. Nothing is made over seas just local supporting local love. The reason for the name – I have 2 barking dog’s & it’s memorable.

We opened in March of 2014 and now employ 7 local people.

Congratulations … I visited your store in the spring … you went out of your way to help me get the items I wanted home by agreeing to take them to the post and mailing them … when I got home, they were there safe and sound….all this to say that you don’t just go out of your way to help the local artisans, but you are willing to go that one step further to help your customers as well. When I return to the island, I will be sure to stop in and do some more shopping … thank you for excellent service

Having owned a store similar to the Barking Dog for 30 plus years I see Debbie’s vision. I too made it my mission to support local artisans and keep inventory interesting, Debbie is headed in the right direction, making a name for herself as that “go to shop” the one people talk about! The Barking Dog is always on my list of places to bring my guests when visiting Sooke. Congratulations on being nominated and Best wishes Debbie as you emBark on your newest venture in Sydney!
